Bank Of Ireland mis-sold PPI claims

The Bank of Ireland is the oldest banking organisation in Ireland.

The bank was established in 1872 to lend and give support to personal and business development opportunities in the country.

The Bank of Ireland is not the country's central bank although it has functioned in some ways like The Bank of England and The Bank of Scotland.

The bank headquarters are Dublin. It operates in The United Kingdom especially in Northern Ireland. In Great Britain, The Bank of Ireland expanded through the takeover of The Bristol and West building society in 1996. There is also a close working relationship with The British Post Office.

The Bank of Ireland is best known in The UK as a mortgage lender although other loans are also offered.

It is in the area of personal loans, credit cards and mortgages that payment protection insurance (PPI) has reared its ugly head.

How does a bank like The Bank of Ireland get involved in the scandal of PPI mis-selling?

The simple answer is greed.

If you were to look at recent goings on at this bank you would have to describe some of the events that have happened as somewhat "Dodgy".

The mis-selling of PPI is one of them. Payment protection insurance(PPI) has generated billions of pounds for The banks and Insurance companies and this includes The Bank of Ireland.

It is big business and it is nice and easy. To be honest PPI is a good idea. This is how it works...........You take out a loan, for example and if for some reason like illness or unemployment, you can't repay the loan then the insurance covers you and the policy coughs up.

However in practice there are so many small print exclusions that as many as 8 out of 10 people can't qualify for any benefit.

PPI is a bad product and should have never been foisted onto the public.
Even though there were cases awarded against the banks in the past, the banks and insurance companies continued to peddle PPI.

Why not it is gold mine!

However, in a high court judgment earlier this year time was eventually called on PPI and the banks were ordered to repay people who have been mis-sold PPI.

We thought they would appeal and drag this issue on for ever but no, Lloyds TSB held up their hands and said that they would accept the court's verdict.

Other banks quickly followed suit.

This is very good news for you. If you have been mis-sold PPI we can get your money back with interest. That would be nice in these days of austerity, wouldn't it?

It is also possible for you to negotiate with the bank yourself but you might find it frustrating and time consuming.
